Stella of HOL would like to thank Rob Topliss for sending in this feature

Ringstead were extremely fortunate with the weather for their 29th Open Gardens event, particularly since we have seen our fair share of rain during June as much of the UK can vouch for!!  As usual, the event attracted hundreds of visitors from far and wide and raised funds for the local church and other charities.

The open gardens were supported by other attractions including a Church flower festival, plant stalls, crafts, tombola, bric-a-brac, cakes and entertainment by The Lavender Hill Mob added to the atmosphere.  Visitors had the opportunity to record their own musical efforts on to CD as well!

In all there were 9 places of interest.  These included:

1. A private bungalow
2. A garden with koi carp
3. The Old Wheelwright (who had a large variety of plants available for sale)
4. East End Farm (the centre of the walk with many bric a brac, crafts and cake stalls)
5. The Lodge
6. The Bury (a walk through woodlands to the ruins of St Peter's Church)
7. Art Exhibition at the Village Hall with the musical organ outside
8. Old Rectory
9. St Andrew's Church Flowers - Theme: Word of Life

To complete a very nice Sunday afternoon, I am told a very nice lunch was served from midday - ham off the bone with salad and strawberry and cream.
