2ND DEMONSTRATION TO PROTEST ABOUT
THE PROBLEMS OF THE A149
AT THE LAVENDER JUNCTION VERGE
MONDAY, 29 MAY 2022
11.00AM - 1.00PM
Stella of Heacham-On-Line would like to thank Malcolm for the photos

Yet another great show of support by local Heacham residents
for a much needed resolution to the problems caused by
heavy congestion of traffic at the Lavender Junction on the A149 at Heacham.

An example of "light traffic" on a summer's day!

View from Heacham's Lavender Junction towards Hunstanton

Exit from Heacham - one car at a time - if traffic flow is considerate!!

No choice but to wait patiently to exit Heacham.

Exiting from Sedgeford - same problem.

Locals demonstrate their frustration.

Even when it's quiet the junction is still difficult for drivers in all directions.

Many near misses and contact incidents are not recorded,
which means the true accident figure is even higher for this trouble spot.

Following the demonstration in August 2005, just over £500,000 from Norfolk County Council's 2007/2008 budget has been allocated to sorting out the congestion problems at the Lavender Junction access to Heacham (A149).  Keen to keep up the pressure for something to be done, Heacham Parish Council organised this follow up demonstration for Bank Holiday Monday (29 MAY 2022) to ensure awareness of the issue was in the forefront of people's minds.  Parish Clerk, Philippa Sewell said that the Parish Council had made great progress in gaining agreement for this money to be set aside, but warned that the money had not been committed yet.   Mrs Sewell felt that the campaign for resolving the problems were much further advanced than they had ever been but was concerned that people did not become complacent about the situation.

Surveys of the junction problems started a little while ago and it is hoped the results of this will be revealed by the end of the summer allowing a decision to be made on the best resolution - whether it be traffic lights or a roundabout.
