On Tuesday, 7 March 2006, the annual Civic Awards took place at King's Lynn Town Hall.  The evening commenced with a Civic Reception in the Stone Hall with a welcome and introduction by the Deputy Mayor of King's Lynn & West Norfolk, Councillor David Johnson.

Our very own Newsletter Team were successfully nominated by the Parish Council for an award for their dedication in compiling, producing and distributing The Heacham Newsletter for the benefit of all with an interest in what happens in Heacham.  At the same time, John Harris successfully nominated Margaret Jeacock of Heacham for the work she has done for Patients' Participation Group and Pocahontas Players (raffles, sponsored walks etc); Phyllis Sanderson's Jumble Sales; John Harris's Music Marathons and Birthday events - serving the refreshments and organising the other ladies for several years.

The Mayor of King's Lynn & West Norfolk, Councillor Trevor Manley, presented the awards.

Other contributions to the formalities included:

Singing the Praises of Unsung Heroes - Ms Jill Bennett

Report of the Judges - Mrs Alison Croose

The Reading of the Citations - Mrs Penny Harrison

In all, about 28 groups and individuals received awards and the formal proceedings were rounded off with a buffet supper.
