HEACHAM DIGITAL CAMERA CLUB
VIEW THE NEW EAST ANGLIAN AIR AMBULANCE

Feature and Photos by Heacham Digital Camera Club

As a new Digital Camera Club, we needed new challenges to encourage our members to practice with their cameras.  Our main challenge is to produce a 2007 calendar of local scenes, to raise money for our Air Ambulance.  This would mean lots of hard work but, we feel it is a worthy cause.

During a telephone conversation with East Anglian Air Ambulance Fundraising Co-ordinator, Chris Donaldson, regarding our calendar sponsors, we were invited along to the unveiling of East Anglia’s new Air Ambulance.  What an honour, the invite was eagerly accepted.

Keith, Ray and I (Viv) arrived at the Ramada Hotel in Peterborough at 10am on 11 April 2006.

We were greeted by some wonderful supporters of Air Ambulance and to be introduced as the Official Photographers on this special day was such an honour.

A voice shouted 10 minutes to arrival so we ran out into the gardens to gain suitable positions for some good shots.

Our new Air Ambulance flew above the water towards the hotel, gently spun round to introduce itself, prior to landing in the grounds.

We were given the opportunity to take as many photographs as desired of both the interior and exterior of the helicopter and of course the highly trained and respected crew members. This was a rare event, as from now it will be in full service.

At a running cost of £110,000 per month it does not make personal appearances, other than to save lives.

Our new Air Ambulance is the best equipped in this country - it contains an amazing amount of life saving equipment as well as the pilot, paramedic and doctor.

We hope you enjoy these views of our morning with those magnificent men and their flying machine.

We introduce our new East Anglian Air Ambulance.
