BEACH RENOURISHMENT PROJECT AT HEACHAM CLOSES
Feature and photos by Stella of Heacham On Line

Heacham Beach refreshed and back in business for Summer 2006.

The beach on Tuesday, 22 November 2005.
It is just 48 hours following the final loads of sand were distributed and levelled
the beach is already returning to its natural beauty.
Above - The piles which secured the barges
during the works following their removal from the water.
Above - Whole stretches of the beach looked like this
prior to the renourishment works.

It was one of the coldest days of 2005 on Sunday, 20 November 2021
when the workers helping to renourish Heacham Beach delivered and distributed the last of the sand.
The tide was none too helpful though as the barges ran aground at the closing stages of the project
which left the weary crews stuck for a while.

Having said that, the disappearing water must have made the final days work considerably easier for the ground crews!!
The clear up operations scheduled for Monday, 21 November but were, unfortunately,
hampered by the freezing mist but the job was finally done.
