A feast of activities, most of them free, are on offer across West Norfolk as the second Food Fortnight gets underway in November. Many businesses and organisations have backed a range of events organised by the West Norfolk Learning Partnership, such as exhibitions, workshops, talks, courses and demonstrations. Food is the theme but the subjects covered go far beyond eating and healthy diets. There will be opportunities to enjoy languages, art, computing, history, health and safety, reminisces and exhibitions during the two-week programme. The aims are:
The challenge for the partnership was to spread the events around West Norfolk so that there is something happening wherever people live. |
For all those that enjoyed Hells kitchens on the TV then this is for you, on Wednesday 10th November 2004, Colin Rushmore well known Norfolk Chef, and Chef Patron of Rushmore’s Restaurant in Heacham Norfolk will be offering you the chance to spend a few hours in the restaurant’s kitchen. The Restaurant is pleased to be involved, for the second year, in the food fortnight. Last year we demonstrated the art of cooking fish and this demonstration sold out within a few days. This year we are looking at offering something slightly different, inspired by Gordon Ramsey's Hells kitchen. The demonstration will consist of units of two persons booking together, and with a total of only ten tickets (10 couples) up for grabs it will be on a first come first served. The tickets will be priced at £25.00 per person and this is what you will get for your money. At 3 o'clock in the afternoon one of the partners of the two that have booked tickets will arrive at the restaurant in Heacham and be treated to a demonstration of the preparation for the dinner that will be offered when they return with their partner in the evening. The preparation of the starter course, also a fresh soup course, main course and dessert course, bread making, and handmade chocolates will be explained during the cooking demonstration, and still giving people plenty of time to return with their partner in time for canapés at 7.oclock and dinner at 7.30pm. The table for dinner will be set in a square for twenty persons only, and we will seat partners next to each other as much as possible. Canapés on arrival will be included in the price but pre dinner drinks are not. At the table two glasses of wine will be offered included in the price, but extra wine may be brought from our wine list if required. This is an evening out with a bit of a difference. Sorry but only ten of the twenty persons that book will be able to attend the afternoon cooking demonstration due to the size of the kitchen Booking must be paid in full in advance of the evening and is non refundable Bookings can be made on 01485 579393. A copy of the menu that will be offered for the dinner will be sent to you by first class post with a booking form. If you wish to attend please phone the restaurant so we can reserve your place for the evening remember we only can offer ten tickets (10 couples). |
