The Heacham On Line team would like to thank Mary Pishorn for the loan of her photos so we could do this feature. It would have been nice to include all her collection but unfortunately space would only allow the following pages, but they will give you all an idea of the work that has gone on over the winter months. Heacham Hard Defences |
On the left we have an old photo of how the beach was around 1920, above the beach huts that survive today. |
|
Above before
it all started at the beginning of September |
Above
Mackleys site at the beginning of the project again the first few days
into September |
On the left we have the workmen starting at Kalajuga end of the North Beach |
The first signs of our beach being dug up. | The date was the 9th September 2002 |
On the right we have the start of putting up the railings at the rear of all the work, this would be just behind the position of the wave wall, but that is a long way off at this stage. |
|
We are still in the early part of September, above showing the extraction of the old groynes. |
So out with the old on the left and in with the new above, as we see the steel shuttering going in. |
