| The tournament had some of the best weather possible with just about 7 days of glorious sunshine. Finals day had a strong breeze but even with this tricky situation we were still treated to some excellent bowls. | Open

In the open singles event new to the tournament this year we saw Pat Stanley make it through to the final. Pat also reached the ladies triples final. During the week her cut off trousers and her bright yellow bowls were a talking point. |

| Unfortunately finals day
was saddened by the deaths of Ivan and Pam Jeffery and Pam's
mother, Connie Rome, who were all killed in a car accident. All three were long standing members of Cliff Parade bowling club and Ivan was this years club president and Pam was ladies president, while Connie had been a ladies past president.
